Deep-Fried Cornmeal Encrusted Calamari
 
Ingredients:  
1 lb Ocean Jewel Loligo Squid - 5/8” Tube & Tentacle
1/2 cup Cornmeal
1/2 cup Semolina flour
1/4 cup All- purpose flour
1/4 cup Corn starch
1/2 tsp Garlic powder
1 tsp Onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Lemon
 
DIRECTIONS:

1. Defrost squid. Cut tubes into rings of desired thickness. Add tentacles.

2. Season with salt and pepper.

3. Mix all dry ingredients together in a medium sized bowl.

4. Place the squid into the bowl and move around in flour mixture until completely covered. Shake off excess mix.

5. Preheat fryer to 350 ºF and deep fry squid for approximately 2 -3 minutes or until golden brown. Do not overcook.

6. Serve with your favorite dip such as seafood sauce, lemon garlic aioli or mango-orange dip. Garnish with lemon wedge.
